Unfortunately, Vtubers.me is not at all safe for the LGBTQIA+ community given these comments. It is so disheartening and extremely disappointing that such a small website would take the measure to step into this when they could have just said nothing, but in doing so they’ve created a space where marginalized creators cannot feel safe.

Sighhh I left Twitter cause I didn't feel safe with massive transphobia and now I see the creators of vtubers.me supporting it... I just got here and now I have to leave because that is massively triggering.... and yes, being in defense of what caused the landslide of hate against trans vtubers and then saying zero things about said landslide, is in support of transphobia. Can't feel safe here anymore

It kinda sucks a lot though tbh, because while Vtubing certainly had its pockets it felt like a majority of indie spaces were safe for LGBTQIA+ identities of all kinds. I mean I certainly felt safe as someone whose asexual. I didn’t expect things to go so south so suddenly… maybe I’m still experiencing whiplash.

I do feel a lot better being here than being on Twitter. But I’ll be real - I think a lot of the magic of Vtubing is gone for me.

After seeing people I’ve known for almost the entire duration of my aspiring career be so incredibly unable to play one single video game, or suddenly LGBTQIA+ spaces I thought I could trust just turn in a second, so much of this feels skeevy to me now and I’m not sure I’ll ever feel the same way I used to.

I’ll just keep on keepin’ to my own, subbies.

I'm not gonna lie, part of me hopes this stays an indie space. Nothing against agency or mega popular VTubers, but bigger followings often bring more toxic people with them, and that kind of corporate marketing content always feels hollow to me.

I'd rather this space cater to smaller independent VTubers and encourage actual engagement, focus on building real connections. Granted, where this site goes is up to Nekoli, but that's just my two cents.
